Social Media FAQ

The following FAQ is what to expect from any and all of my personal social media endeavors.

So, who am I?

I’m commonly known on the internet as Thumper or Luke Weatherlow. I’m a gamer/project manager with a blog and lots of opinions. You can find out more about me on my About page.

Like many people, the online persona I choose to project on the internet is full of sarcasm and stupid humor I more often than not like to share with everyone else. Since the internet or “tubes” do not display my full range of emotions and faces that go along with what I write it may sometimes come across as something completly different than what I’m truly trying to say. In that case… feel free to make me clarify or… just RAGE at me.

What can I expect you to write about?

As an avid techy most of my twitter posts will revolve around things the following:

  • Games
  • Gaming culture
  • Technology
  • Gadgets
  • Other media (anime, films, television, print, etc.)
  • The media
  • Politics
  • Culture
  • Current events
  • Social injustice
  • My daily life
  • How I feel about all of the above
  • Unicorns
  • Being Awesome
  • Other stuff

My opinions may fall outside of your personal comfort zone or you may disagree with them. What I post may be controversial according to your personal standards. No one will have the same exact views all the time, and if you feel I am wrong let me know. :)

What don’t you write about?

My Twitter/facebook account is a personal account. I generally don’t tweet about work because I prefer not to mix work stuff with personal stuff. It keeps life easier and I don’t discose anything super important about my current employers plans to take over the world.

<SUPER AWESOME DISCLAIMER>

All statements and opinions made on my Twitter/Facebook accounts are my own and do not represent the views or policies of my employer. If my company has anything to say, it will not be on my Twitter/Facebook account, but on their official website and other official channels.

</ SUPER AWESOME DISCLAIMER>

Although my Twitter/Facebook account is not for work, I don’t post too many details about my personal life. As is true with everyone using social media, whatever I choose to publish about my personal life is generally a calculated decision. This does not necessarily mean that I am providing an incomplete picture of myself via Twitter and via my blog and via any other sort of public facing interaction. I try my hardest to be "real"… fakeness is boring and does not attract readers.

Why should I follow you?

I’m not here to convince anyone to follow me. If you know me, have questions, or would just like to read anything I write then this would be a great reason to follow me.

Why aren’t you following me back?

  • You’re a spammer.
  • You represent a business that I’m not interested in.
  • You have a different worldview and we have absolutely nothing else in common.
  • Your updates are protected. I can’t get an idea of whether I’d be interested in reading your tweets if I can’t see ‘em. Sorry!
  • I don’t know enough about you to start following you. Send me some @s. Have some conversations with me, and we’ll go from there.
  • There just are too many people to follow!
